Revival of Pichwai from the Nathdwara Tradition by Pooja Singhal

hot news

Pichwais are intricate works of art executed on cloth or paper that illustrate stories from the life of Lord Krishna. Over the years, Pichwais have evolved into pieces that are sought after the world over by collectors and lovers of art. Pooja Singhal, who has spent five years working with artisans from Nathdwara to sustain traditional skills will exhibit the collections in the capital for all the art lovers to venerate.

The exhibition will be accompanied by collateral events, which include talks by well-known historians and guided-curated walks. The venue itself offers the perfect setting for the exhibition: A 1950s bungalow, in the heart of Central Delhi, has been used previously for the most edgy contemporary arts projects. In its first avatar for a presentation of traditional arts from India, it transforms into the Haveli of Srinatji itself. Curated by textile designer & curator Mayank Mansingh Kaul and supported by Outset India and the Gujral Foundation, the exhibition will run from 23 September - October 6, 2015 at 24, Jor Bagh, New Delhi from 11 am to 7 pm.
