hot news

Cobalt Arts, Mumbai’s group show Antarang had a glorious and successful launch with its inauguration by Former Captain of Indian Cricket Team, Azharuddin.  The exhibition, Antarang, features artworks by Masters , Senior Artists as well as Contemporary artists, is taking place at  Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi ( Gallery 1 & 2) from 12th – 18th Oct 2015.

“The group show promises to be an interesting one as art connoisseurs will get to view abstract as well as figurative works in tandem. In addition to this, works by Indian ‘Masters’ & Senior artists like  Sunil Das,  John Fernandes, Suhas Bahulkar, Vipta Kapadia, Ashok Bhowmick, Prakash Ghadge, Asha Mhatre and Datta Bansode  will be on display”, says Neeta Pathare, Artist, Curator, Art Critic and the brain behind Cobalt Arts.

Artworks of these artists have their own unique styles. Where Sunil Das’s ‘Horse’ has a forceful strokes.  John Fernandes’ paintings of the female form have boundless sensuality, a striking radiance and erotic luminosity. Suhas Bahulkar’s paintings are greatly inspired by the traditional Maharashtrian lifestyle. Vipta Kapadia’s canvas gives a feel of stealthily squeezing colour all over the horizon and gradually shudders with innumerable hues of every sort.  A distinct feature of Ashok Bhoumick's work is his manipulation in his rendering of images, which makes living objects appear frozen, and energises inactive, lifeless elements. Prakash Ghadge’s art practice in pen & ink takes sharpest articulation with depth of his black which is massive and subliminal. Asha Mhatre’s  portrait painting from live models connects with viewers. Datta Bansode is known for his figurative simplified style and his every Buddha has a new line, new concept and reflects a different meaning

Holding their own against these ‘masters’ are the contemporary and very promising artists which include Manoj Sakale, Parag Borse, Ganesh Hire,Neeta Pathare,  Snehal Page, Girish Urkude, Prince Chand, Varsha Vyas, Madhumitta Bhattacharya, Umakant Kanade, Shuvendu Sarkar, Dilip Dudhane, Suresh Gosavi  and  a well know sculptor Pradeep Shinde known  for his metal scrap sculptures is also displaying his artworks at the exhibition. The genres of art that these artists subscribe to are varied.

Cobalt Arts is the brainchild of Neeta Pathare who is herself an artist for the last 12 years, and now a  curator and art critic. Being an artist she is aware of the challenges of this field and Cobalt Arts is an honest and a well-planned attempt to address them and contribute to the growth of the art world. Cobalt Arts plans exhibitions across India and the globe and exploring new avenues, as well as strengthen the traditional ways, of exhibiting artworks. Cobalt Arts upcoming show is happening in Dubai in April 2016.

According to Neeta, “ The aim behind Cobalt Arts is to create a platform where Contemporary artists can share the same with Senior artists and 'Masters'. An individual needs to connect with an artwork to buy it as it is an experience. But now the traditional way of buying art is gradually changing with today’s digital era where people can buy art online as well, but the experience of “feeling” art in person cannot be undermined. Unlike any other product “art” is not consumed.. it is lived with !!! “

Among the guests present were Artists Ahok Bhowmick, Prince Chand, Girish Urkude, Shuvendu Sarkar, Banita Sinha, Actor Mukesh Tyagi, Curator Madhvi Advani, Astrologer Riddhi Bahl, Jewellery Designer Shivani Chawla,
