hot news

Like Asha Gautam this brand will also work mostly on handmade textiles crafted from various clusters in the country but the silhouettes, cuts and textures will be different.  “Asha Gautam is heritage for me whereas GG is uber chic. I see style, fun and sharpness in GG “says Gautam gupta. The silhouettes and cuts used are edgy, stylish and mostly 3D embroidery is used.

The textiles are so universal that they can make anything from it and this label is to cater to the style quotient of the millennial. As a designer you itch to work more on these textiles and at the same time justify them so GG is contemporary label with our crafts. With this I work on three labels – Asha Gautam,  Autre by Gautam and GG, where all three  are different genres and will have their own story yet our own handmade textiles and collaboration with craftsmen across the country bring the common connect adds Gautam Gupta

About the collection - Lot of silhouettes and cuts were played in this collection. Structured jackets with skirts, dhotis and palazzos are done; asymmetrical tops are paired with different styles as well. Frills, Layers and drapes are also done in few pieces to give that more flamboyance. The textiles used in the collection is chanderi, brocade, banarasi georgette, kaitan silk, matka silk, munga georgette, bandhani  georgette, ikat  and others. To give the collection lot of structure stiffer fabrics were used where for dhotis and drapes fluid fabrics such as modal satin and banarasi georgettes are used.

The collection is a mix of pastels, festie and nude shades so we used colours such as pale blush, Cameo rose, seedling green, fox blue to black, warn sand, arctic grey to peach, lilac rose, snorkel blue. Accentuating the collection with non conventional materials such as leather dori, velvet yarn, jute dori, metals along with resham and ari along with using laser cut techniques and developing motifs. As mentioned the intent was to give the collection a fresh look so lot of experimentation was done on textiles.
