Enlivening Shows & Sessions at Thespo 17 leaves the audience wanting for more!
Thespo, a grand theatrical event held every year has reached Day 4 of its 17th edition amid a huge audience which is thrilled with the electrifying activities happening on each day. Intoxicating plays and music performances along with interactive workshops by dynamic artists from across the globe have cheered up the students and are inviting an increasing crowd by each passing day. The renowned Youth Theatre festival commenced on December 07 & will continue till December 13, 2015 at three famous venues namely Prithvi Theatre, The Hive and Godrej Theatre, NCPA. This week-long celebration of youth theatre includes 6 plays, 6 fringe performance including international acts and collaborations, 4 platform performances, 10 workshops and 4 live music acts!
Thespo which is a Youth Theatre Movement was started in 1999 and since then has aimed to recognize, promote and showcase the best performing artists available across the globe. Varied workshops and training sessions by industry stalwarts, stagecraft opportunities, interaction with experienced artists, future prospects for new-comers and interface with youngsters sharing similar passion is seen at Thespo. An animated platform, Thespo welcomes any and every individual within 25 years age who aspires to experience diverse aspects of Theatre. Over the years, numerous plays and films feature writers, directors, actors, designers and stage managers who have been a significant part of Thespo.
Youth from different towns and cities could be seen gathering at the venue to experience this one of its kind event. The atmosphere was liberated and an eagerness to learn more could be felt amongst the crowd. The youth at Thespo thoroughly utilized the opportunity to understand, interact and grab possibilities for new beginnings. Happy, cheerful and the enthusiastic team of participants pulled a great show to attract and keep the audience high on energy.
December 11, which was Day 5 of Thespo 17, had some ravishing performances and workshops lined up. ‘The Navaras’ by Padma Damodaran was the first workshop of the day followed by the last session of the workshop on ‘Hip Hop Theatre’ by Sébastien Heins & Jajube Mandiela of b Current. Next was the Fringe, ‘The Stranger’, after which the concluding session of the workshop on ‘Method Acting’ by Sohrab Ardeshir was held. Evening of December 11 saw some charged up music performance by Zahan Mehta, a Fringe, ‘Ti Ani Apan’ and soon after, a Platform Performance ‘Nakli Chehre’ and a Thespo full-length Play – ‘Toy’.
Day 6 starts with a workshop on ‘The Art of Story-Telling Through Multi-Media’ by Madeleine O'Reilly, Rav Sanghera & Tim Smith; a workshop on crowdfunding arts projects ‘Go Fund Yourself’ by Anshulika Dubey of Wishberry followed by a Fringe, ‘The Stranger’, a Thespo full-length Play, ‘Dastaan-e-Bhookh’ at 6 pm & 9 pm at Prithvi theatre; a Fringe – ‘PEN@Thespo’ at 7 pm, Platform Performance: ‘Tricks in my pocket’ and a Thespo full-length Play, ‘Hero’ at NCPA.
Thespo 17 will conclude on Sunday, December 13, with ‘Stimulated Voices’ which is a devised dramatization of poetry and prose, directed by Glenn Hayden and performed by young artists from India and the most awaited ‘Thespo 17 Awards Night’ which is a celebration of the future of theatre.
