FDCI partners with The Ministry of External Affairs to present ‘Threads of Banaras’ as part of the First Ladies’

The Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI), a non-profit organisation has been provided the opportunity  by The Ministry of External Affairs to present a fashion show titled, ‘Threads of Banaras’, as part of the First Ladies’ programme during the ongoing India-Africa Forum Summit III on October 29. With a stunning conceptualisation by FDCI & Ekaya it will pay homage to Banarasi weaves and revive the lost splendour of Varanasi through magnificent crafts and modern silhouettes.   

 

In an effort to nurture the burgeoning Indian fashion landscape, the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) has spearheaded collaborations and global exchange of designers. It has made the ‘Make in India’ label avant-garde by reviving the golden era of India’s treasured heritage.

 

Mr. Sunil Sethi, President, FDCI said, “We are excited to announce the collaboration with The Ministry of External Affairs, as this is an opportunity to exhibit the heritage of Banarasi weaves and showcase it at a prestigious event the India-Africa Forum Summit III. Our esteemed guests will be transported to an inimitable world of fabulous textiles, endearing weaves and stunning embroideries conceptualised by FDCI & Ekaya for the show.”
An august gathering of First Ladies from the following nations of the Indo African Summit have been invited to attend the fashion show.
